So tell me something I DON'T know!

NJ assemblyman wants to limit ammunition capacity: TRENTON  (January 31, 2018)-
A New Jersey assemblyman says that he wants to limit the amount of ammunition a firearm can hold in the state. Democratic Assemblyman Lou Greenwald reintroduced legislation would limit the amount of ammunition a magazine could hold from 15 rounds to 10. The bill also designates a semi-automatic rifle with a fixed magazine capacity exceeding 10 rounds as a prohibited assault firearm. Greenwald says that his plan will save lives.
I think that there exists in the word processors of New Jersey reporters a form which they can fill out to announce this same message ... every week.

All they have to do us fill in the blanks:

A New Jersey[enter position here] says that he/she wants to limit the amount of ammunition a firearm can hold in the state. Democratic [enter position here] [enter last name here] reintroduced legislation would limit the amount of ammunition a magazine could hold from 15 rounds to 10. You know you've read the same press release at least once a month for the past ten years.

Democrats; they are true to their creed, they will do anything to get their name in the newspapers, and they haven't had an original thought since the Kennedy era.

Society's Child in ToonTown

We didn't have enough Psychopaths in America, so we decided to import them.
20-Time Deportee Moves to Sanctuary City, Allegedly Rapes 65-Year-Old Woman: Police officers in the sanctuary city of Portland [Oregon] arrested Sergio Jose Martinez, 31, after he allegedly broke into the home of a 65-year-old woman, tied her up, held her at knifepoint and raped her, KOIN CBS6 reported. Court records revealed Martinez has a long criminal history that includes burglary, battery, and multiple deportations.

It's not "Sanctuary", it's a Hunting Ground

Following his alleged attack on the 65-year-old woman in her home where she gave him her Prius to get him to leave, police responded to a call about a man attacking a woman in the basement of a parking garage below a building. There, police discovered Martinez allegedly sexually assaulting another woman and holding her at knifepoint. Martinez fled on foot and officers chased him through a neighborhood, capturing him in a nearby apartment, KOINS reported.

Sanctuary Cities need to take responsibility for encouraging these maniacs, who migrate to places like Portland which encourage rapine and murder by their permissive social policies.

Martinez had been deported at least TWENTY TIMES, and he kept coming back because he (like all of his perverted kind) knew that the worst he could expect was a slap on the wrist, and a plethora of Social Justice Warriors who will weep for his poor degenerate self.

What kind of community allows encourages feral creatures to predate its citizens?

Glock This!

See, this is one of the reasons why I don't share in the "Glock Love" movement:

(Bearing Arms, December 20, 2015; by Bob Owens ... sorely missed, dammit!)

Anti-Gun Sheriff Negligently Shoots Self:
Mike Johnstone, an Iowa sheriff infamous for pushing the anti-gun lie that “shall issue” concealed carry will lead to “wild-west” shootouts, has managed to Glockify himself.   .....
... Johnstone removed the magazine from his pistol but failed to do a chamber check before squeezing the trigger as part of the Glock design’s standard takedown process.
... Thereby violating at least TWO rules of Gun Safety .... Jeez, Mike, don't you know better than to point the gun at yourself when you drop the freakin' HAMMER*?  IDJIT!
* yes, I know it's a striker in a Glock.

However, the article goes on to demonstrate  Bob Owens' clear comprehension about LEO gun-handling standards:
The general public shares the common belief that law enforcement officers are highly-trained firearms experts. While there are indeed some incredibly talented shooters in law enforcement, the vast majority of patrol officers and deputies simply aren’t “gun people,” and aren’t typically as skilled as serious concealed carriers.

(Which reminds me, I haven't been to the range all week and I still need more work on "familiarity" of that damn KelTek P3AT!)

Dirty Words

I once got into an argument with a friend, and came very close to calling him the vilest name I could think of.

And then I thought ... "what if he decided to call ME a New York Liberal Democrat Politician?"

So I merely called him an "@$$" and we parted friends.

It's good to have friends.

Below, a thumbnail of a miserable  man who has no friends.   It makes you mean.

NY Dem Pushes Bill Labeling Traditional Guns as 'Child Operated Firearms' - Breitbart:
New York State Senator Jose' M. Serrano (D-29) is pushing legislation that will require retailers to label a traditional gun which lacks a disabling device as a “child operated firearm.” The legislation–Senate Bill S3444–then bans the sale of any “child operated firearm.”

What Part Of "Shall Not Be Infringed" needs to be rephrased using small words for you, Senator?

California IMPORTS Democrat Lawyers?

California Hires Eric Holder as Legal Bulwark Against Donald Trump - The New York Times:
LOS ANGELES — Girding for four years of potential battles with President-elect Donald J. Trump, Democratic leaders of the California Legislature announced Wednesday that they had hired Eric H. Holder Jr., who was attorney general under President Obama, to represent them in any legal fights against the new Republican White House. The decision by the Legislature to retain Mr. Holder, who is now a prominent Washington lawyer, is the latest sign of the ideological battle that may play out over the next four years between this predominantly Democratic state and Washington. Hillary Clinton, the Democratic candidate for president, defeated Mr. Trump by more than four million votes here.
Stick a fork in 'em, fellas .... they're done!

Crowd thrilled w/ surprise!

I'm pretty sure I don't understand the vindictive parts.

Kellyanne Conway celebrates her historic win; Left focus on Conway’s body, hurl sexual slurs – twitchy.com:

Honoring the ultimate hero at the Mercer "Heroes and Villians" party on Long Island. Crowd thrilled w/ surprise!

It must be a Liberal/Progressive thing that ordinary people aren't suppose to 'get'.

Whew!

Thank God I'm not a Liberal Progressive ... the things they say embarrass me, and I'm I'm an ex-Army platoon sergeant.

I thought I knew all the ways to curse someone.  There's a lot about cursing I haven't yet learned .. nor do I want to learn!

I'll never be a Liberal Progressive, if this is the example they embrace.

Staged Photos: Why "The Mirror Online" is not a valid news source.

Iraqi woman guns down ISIS commander as bloody revenge for making her a sex slave - Mirror Online:

Consider This "News Photo" published on "The Mirror":

"The woman, believed to be be a member of the Yazidi-Kurdish minority, shot dead senior Islamic State commander Abu Anas, according to Iraqi satellite TV network Alsumaria News"
Never mind the text of the news article:
... it's unrelated to the photo, except that the photo suggests to demonstrate a female firing a "machine gun" which may or may not have had anything to do with the headline.

Look at the belt!
There are three rounds  in the extended belt .... in alternating loops feeding the gun.   WTF?
You can't feed a belt-fed machine gun when there's a break in the belt!

Then there are a series of empty loops (or links).  Then there is a six foot length of belt dragging through the dirt until it's draped over a short wall of sandbags.

This is obviously not a .50 caliber (12.7mm) M2 Machine Gun ... looks like an M60 (7.62mm) variant, but there's still a LONG length of  'links' trailing out of the gun, and the M60 (also M2) don't leave a chain of links on the 'ejection' side of the gun.   They spew out "one at a time" to the right side of the gun, scattering indiscriminately.

Nobody runs a crew-served weapon without the Assistant Gunner, whose jobs include:

  1. hump extra ammunition,
  2. ensure that the feed of ammunition to the gun is not interrupted by failure to link the next belt to the in-gun belt;
  3. identify and direct fire to priority targets;
  4.  let the gunner know when the barrel is overheating;
  5.  with the gunner, help replace the barrel when it gets too hot; and
  6.  MAKE SURE THE AMMUNITION ISN'T FOULING THE GUN by introducing plant fibers, dust/dirt or other environmental elements at the gun site.
That last part includes not dragging the feeder-belt through the muck and the blood and the dirt .. which will jam a hot crew-served weapon faster than you can say "Oh, Drat!"

Sure, the photo wouldn't be possible if you had an AG crouched on the left side of the gun; you wouldn't be able to see the gun.  And it's a much more dramatic photo with a single brave female gunner, with a chain of ammunition dragging through the dust and a chain of links (ammunition expended) on the right side of the gun.

It's just ... wrong!

It offends my sense of right, for the cause of presenting a very dramatic photograph supporting the theme of the story.

It's still wrong.

...

Okay, I'll go take my meds now.

‘Honor Killing’

First they beat Saba, then her uncle held her as her own father pointed a pistol at her head and pulled the trigger. Blood spewed, Saba collapsed and her father and uncle packed her body into a large sack and threw it into the river to sink. They then drove away, thinking they had restored the family’s good name.

So much for the "Religion of Peace".

The Hatred from the Ignorant Left

Markley’s Law, ignorance, hate, and violence | The View From North Central Idaho:
Somehow I don’t think this is the most effective way to convince people of their righteous. It just makes people laugh.

Idaho Joe gets a lot of trash mail.  I know he doesn't encourage it .. it just happens.  But he's right; the clueless have a way of shooting themselves in the foot, and somehow it never seems to occur to them that other people will read their vitriol and judge them by it.

Either that, or they just don't care.

The very INTERESTING thing is the assumptions they make about firearms owners.

"Show Me Your Papers!"

The Sunshine State is getting tough on crime ... by requiring those scary Concealed Weapons carriers to have their permits and ID ready for inspection.
A new proposal requiring concealed carry permit holders to carry their concealed weapons permits and state they're carrying a concealed weapon if approached by a first responder is being introduced in time for the 2016 legislative session.
Why?   Well, because they are liable for a $1000 find if they don't.

But wait, there's more:

The legislation would revoke permit holders’ licenses if they violated the law a second time and failed to show proper identification for their permits.
This is much akin to the ill-fated "don't drive over 55" thingie we suffered through back when my kids were tots.

As we said way back then:  "It's Not A Good Idea; It's Just The Law!"

Well, it's not a law yet; it's just a bill.  A proposal.   A Clay Pigeon at a Trap Range, just waiting for someone to shoot it down:

HB 935, sponsored by Rep. Gwyndolen Clarke-Reed, D-Deerfield Beach, would make it mandatory for licensed concealed carry permit holders to keep their licenses on hand along with valid identification when possessing a firearm.

Show of hands: is anybody surprised that this "Feel-Good" bill has been sponsored by a Democrat?

Anybody?

There's really no justification for this bill.  You go out jogging and you don't have your wallet with you but you DO have your pistol, that just shows you have your priorities right.

Word is there's not a lot of support for this one, but the thing that Politicians and Mangy Mutts have in common is that they have to lick a crotch now and then just to remind folks that they love you so much they'll do anything to please you.

Even if it's something you really wish they would stop doing.  Yech!

Secondary Sexual Characteristics of the AR15.

The Washington Post offers a tidy little exposition on why it's impossible to implement "Common Sense Gun Laws" in the presence of a Gun Culture which gives Gun Grabbers what they want .....  and then laughs in their face!

Ex-ATF Agent: America is only pretending to regulate lethal firearms. - The Washington Post:
December 08, 2015
In 1994, the federal assault weapons ban outlawed a host of firearms by make and model, including the popular Colt AR-15 and several “AK” style rifles. More broadly, the law also prohibited the manufacture and sale of any semi-automatic rifle that could accept a detachable ammunition magazine (for quicker reloading), and had two or more external features such as a folding stock (to make a gun more compact), pistol grips and barrel shrouds (to help steady one’s aim) and a flash suppressor (to hide a shooter’s position).\
Let me see:
Banned features of "EEVIL ASSAULT WEAPONS INCLUDE:

  1. Detachable magazine
  2. Folding Stock
  3. Pistol Grips
  4. Barrel Shrouds
  5. Flash Suppressor
  6. The NAME of the popular rifle
Remember this list; there will be a test at the end of the class!

The 1994 gun ban "outlawed" firearms which were never identified as a major player in gun violence, and defined those firearms by cosmetic features.   None of which features made the firearms any more "deadly" than a Winchester Model 70 .. which was available in much more "deadly" calibers than .223.

So, okay ... anything that was on an AR15 and was not on a Model 70 was 'removed' from the AR15 by the manufacturers (except the ability to accept an external magazine).

But the gun-grabbers were shocked ... SHOCKED! ... that the deadly AR15 could be reconfigured to meet the standards which they had arbitrarily opposed ... and could be made "legal"!

How did the gun industry respond? With cosmetic fixes. Colt renamed the AR-15 the “Sporter,” stripped off its flash suppressor and bayonet lug and modified the magazine. Other manufacturers and importers took similar measures, renaming guns and making minor tweaks. Everyone was pleased. For liberals, the law’s passage was a victory.
What got lost in the orgy of self-congratulation, though, was the purpose of the ban.
No, what got lost was:

  1. The NAME of the popular rifle
  2. Flash Suppressor
  3. Bayonet lug
  4. Folding Stock (an option)
  5. Barrel Shrouds (not there in the first place)
Okay, so five out of the six "Bad Rifle" thingies had been changed.

Hard to change the 'magazine', since it was not a part of the original rifle; and any rifle which can accept a 5-round detachable magazine can probably accept a 30-round magazine (which is a "secondary market" item anyway).

Honestly, if these people are going to condemn a legal product based on cosmetic issues, how can they complain when manufacturers voluntarily comply by responding with cosmetic fixes?

[face palm]

I'm so embarrassed that the firearms industry couldn't read the minds of the gun grabbers.

The manufacturers couldn't intuit that it wasn't the 'secondary sexual characteristics' (akin to mammary glands, shapely legs and curvaceous hips on a female human) which outraged the priggish Gun Grabbers.

Could it be that the Gun Grabbers didn't truly object to the 'secondary sexual characteristics'

Don't tell me they objected to the entire concept of a semi-automatic, rifle-caliber firearm being available on the Free Market!

Because that would be ... just wrong.

Not that they will listen ....

Oregon gunman singled out Christians during rampage | New York Post:

A former president of the college said that it has only one unarmed security officer and that the community decided against armed guards last year. “I suspect this is going to start a discussion across the country about how community colleges prepare themselves for events like this,” Joe Olson told CBS.
(emphasis added)

College and University Administrators are scrambling for a safe place in the face of an oncoming firestorm of protest against collegiate rules forbidding self-defense on campus, and at least one former Oregon Administrator has pulled his head out of his Academia to ask:  "Is this going to hurt my career?"

Dear Joe, and all the oh-so-Academic-Joes who have been making life-altering decisions for your students for the past century:

Well ... yes.   There probably will be a 'discussion across the country' about this.  Except that the discussion has been going on for DECADES!  This is merely the first indication that someone in Academia might notice it.   (You sanctimonious bastards!)

EVIL gun laws in Arizona!

David Codrea at The War On Guns takes note of an article in the International Business Times which bemoans the lax gun control laws in Arizona which allows almost ANYONE to own and use a firearm!!  And they don't need a license to own a firearm, or to register the gun, or ANYTHING!
(Imagine that .. what is this country COMING TO???)

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on whether you wish the author to be considered an authority, or at least a competent reporter of "facts"), the author makes some serious errors in these  .. well, facts!

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the testicles of liberal east-coast journalists!

Phoenix Freeway Shootings: Amid Manhunt, Arizona Gun Laws Are Among The Country's Most Lenient:
Most guns are legal in Arizona, which only outlaws firearms that shoot more than one shot automatically from one pull of the trigger without a manual reload, rifles with barrels longer than 16 inches, and shotguns with barrels longer than 18 inches.
{emphasis added}

Obvious (to people who are either smarter than a stump, or are conversant with gun-control legislation over the past 50 years), the usual gun control laws regarding barrel length have been applied to barrels SHORTER than a given length ... not LONGER. (Shorter barrels make it easier to hide or disguise long-guns, or so we are told by people who aren't a helluva lot smarter than this author.)

And these restrictions are imposed at a federal level .. they are not unique to the state of Arizona.

Are we to assume that the Liberal Press is stupid, or deliberately skewing the facts to fit their agenda?

Perhaps the two categories are not mutually incompatible.

Smirk!

America's 1st Freedom | Brady's Empty Suits:
“It’s been a bad year,” Sean Connery’s character says in “The Wind and the Lion.” “The next one will probably be worse.” The Brady Campaign’s Legal Action Project might as well say the same, as the group’s attempts to legally destroy legitimate gun manufacturers and dealers have met repeated defeats that were capped, this June, by a blow that threatens to destroy the Project’s very existence.

What's that word ... the word I'm looking for.

Oh, now I remember.

Schadenfreude.

Shakespeare's mandate about lawyers

Of Arms and the Law: Jackson v. San Fran: cert denied, with dissent:

Jackson v. San Fran: cert denied, with dissent POSTED BY DAVID HARDY  8 JUNE 2015 09:53 AM Order here. The Court denies cert., not a big surprise, but Thomas and Scalia dissent and say the Court should have accepted the case, even though there is no split in the circuits.
The referenced information in the ARMS&LAW page provide plenty of background, and I would have posted a comment to the effect of  "What the HELL were these people thinking?"

But when I got into reading the dominant opinions ... and some of the rationale ... I realized that rationality was not necessarily a determining factor.

For example: the law requires that all firearms kept in the home be rendered unusable by virtue of being kept in a safe or having a trigger lock.  This was presumably to prevent children or other persons from unauthorized access.  Failure to observe this rule is punishable ....

Where Guns Are Outlawed, Only Criminals Will Have Guns

NRA version of 2nd Amendment lacks common sense - Daily Southtown:
June 05, 2015:  by David McGrath (a Chicago Tribune subsection)
So the wording and structure of the Second Amendment protects the people's right to bear arms only if they belong to a state militia.
So David McGrath has decided that 70% of Americans, along with the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS)  and enough Federal District Courts, State Supreme Courts, and enough individual case studies to sink the Bismarck are wrong.

And he is right.

Because of ... Grammar.

You've seen the Money Quote, now here's his embarrassing explanation:

CHECK FIRE! (Where's The Target ... WTF?)

U.S. bombers hold fire on Islamic State targets amid ground intelligence blackout - Washington Times:

Nearly 75 percent of U.S. bombing runs targeting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria returned to base without firing any weapons in the first four months of 2015, holding their fire mainly because of a lack of ground intelligence and raising questions about President Obama’s key tactic in pushing back an enemy that continues to expand its territory in the war zone.
President Obama will not put troops on the ground to ensure that bombing attacks can apply effective fire against ISIS and other extreme terrorist groups.   And yet he continues to order high-altitude bombing attacks against .. ghost targets.  It "looks good in video", but in Real Life it's a waste of time and resources because .. ineffective!

Montrose Toast:
He either fears his fate too much,Or his deserts are small,That dares not put it to the touchTo gain or lose it all.

Since America (in the person of President Obama) has consistently demonstrated lack-of-resolve to directly attack ISIS, what the fracas are we doing in Iraq and Syria to stop their pernicious attacks on innocents?  Either execute war against our enemies, or yield the battleground to them entirely!

And thus, prove that America is a Paper Tiger,

For those who don't enjoy spectator sports

Victory for Baltimore: Orioles beat White Sox in empty Camden Yards | Fox News:

(Loss for Baltimore: nobody got to go to the game.)
As tempers smoldered and the cleanup of riot-ravaged Baltimore continued outside, the city's beloved Orioles beat the White Sox in an eerily empty ballpark Wednesday afternoon. The game at Orioles Park at Camden Yards was played out before 47,000 empty seats amid safety concerns for spectators.

One of the few 'team games' I will watch is Baseball ... primarily because if you nod off from boredom, when you wake up you haven't missed much.   I haven't watched a baseball game in 20 years, and I haven't missed much.

Other people, though, do like watching ball games.

  • Note to Baltimore:  Y'all did this to yourselves.

And that's the truth.  BLATTTTT!.

Raped in Oregon; I need a Blue Light of Security!

Gun Grab Bill Passes Senate | Oregon Firearms Federation:  (April 14, 2015)
With no surprises, the Oregon Senate today passed SB 941, the universal gun owner registration bill.

I am shocked ... SHOCKED! ... to learn that my elected state representatives voted in a bill which infringes on my constitutional rights.

There are no more private sales of firearms, without the sale being "registered" via a trip to a dealer who will run the transaction through the registration commissars.  (As if felons bought their guns when it's cheaper to steal them.)

This is the work of The Usual Suspects.  May TCHUBLA THE HORRIBLE infest their groins with the fleas of a thousand camels.

I can't even call their offices and threaten to never vote for them again;  I didn't vote for the rascals in the first place.   Hell*, they're probably out tonight having a drink to celebrate their diversity or something.

I feel so helpless, so used, so betrayed.  On the University Campus, they have 'blue lights' on poles, where someone who feels threatened can push a button and a Campus Security Unit (maybe even both guys at the same time) will immediately rush  eventually mosey to their aid.

I need a blue light in the Senate.   Or at least in my home.

*   The lines to TCHUBLA THE HORRIBLE seem to be down at the moment, so you may experience a 'broken link'.  Comcast has reported a "regional outage" in Hell .. AKA OREGON.

"Fight on Guns" ... 'they' don't understand why, but they don't like 'em

The great service that Op-Ed columns provide to their readers is that they provide every ignoramus a venue to vent their spleen even though they don't know a thing about their subject:

"The reason for all those guns is not for self defense, not for hunting and not for sport. The simple reason is that so many Americans are obsessed with guns and gun ownership."

Thesis:
Fight on Guns Is Being Taken to State Ballots - NYTimes.com:\

Closing loopholes on background checks for gun owners is an area Americans support far more than steps like curbs on assault weapons or limits on magazine sizes. A recent Pew survey, for instance, showed that 52 percent of respondents said they believed it was more important to protect gun ownership rights. That figure was up from 29 percent in 2000. Still, in a 2013 poll, Pew found that nearly 75 percent of respondents supported background-check expansions.

Antithesis:
http://blogs.seattletimes.com/opinionnw/2014/12/17/a-glimpse-inside-washingtons-gun-culture-after-initiative-594/

(author: "Tom"):
I despair that this nation will get a grip on gun control or gun safety anytime soon. The reason for all those guns is not for self defense, not for hunting and not for sport. The simple reason is that so many Americans are obsessed with guns and gun ownership. Contrast this ethos with that of other, similar cultures around the world and see what I mean.
So until the gun ownership mania goes away, guns won't go away, and the associated violence and mayhem won't either. What would cause the mania to go away? I haven't a clue.
Of course, gun advocates tell us that "guns don't kill people, people kill people." That's right. People kill people. With guns.
Deep in the heart of Texas 3 days ago

Actually, Tom is almost half right.

Guns won't go away:

For hunting, for sport, for defense, and to protect the rights of The People;

Even to protect the rights of "Tom". Whether he likes it or not, the 2nd Amendment protects his First Amendment right to spout liberal tautology.
