Don’t Turn Our Tragedy Into Hate

UC Merced mourns stabbing spree attacker Faisal Mohammad, seeks to understand him - The College Fix:
{NOVEMBER 18, 2015}
‘People were quick to sympathize with the attacker,’ student says Many at the University of California-Merced are mourning the 18-year-old student who went on a vicious stabbing spree before being shot and killed by a campus police officer, with a “R.I.P” tribute to Faisal Mohammad on Facebook gaining massive support among the campus community.
(H/T: Irons)

Lambs To The Slaughter?  Or Innocents?  Who knows why young people decide to "sympathize" with someone who viciously assaulted their fellow students?  The article doesn't say whether any of those who were stabbed felt any sympathy for their attacker.

"Rest In Peace"?

How is Faisal Mohammad important to us?

How about stabbing people on a college campus.  Does that count?
"A Male UC Merced student stabbed four people with a large hunting knife on the campus Wednesday morning before he was shot and killed by university police, authorities said."
While I have great respect for those who wish to forgive the individual who terrorized their campus, I still believe that the way we live must be measured against the way we would wish to live.

My wish is that people on college campii would please stop their maniacal, murderous ways and treat their fellow man the way we would each prefer to be treated.

Which includes not being stabbed on our way to our next class.
That's got to really hurt, in addition to messing up your classroom attendance record!

Moral Equivalency:

When we publicly "forgive" a wanna-be murderer, we accept that his actions (regardless of his reasons) are "acceptable".  Or, at least, "understandable".

People, stabbing unarmed strangers on a college campus is NOT acceptable.   My understanding is that someone who stabs folks believes that he has a right to live, and they don't.  Since they were strangers, the people on the Merced campus had done him no harm.

Why did he stab them?   Was it a religious thing?  Was he just having a bad day, and taking his own "mad" out on them?  Was he seeking a way to goad law-enforcement officers to provide him with "Suicide By Cop"?

Maybe he was very careful not to stab his victims in a 'fatal' wound, which suggests he's a lot more controlled than his actions would suggest.  So perhaps poor, sad, much-put-upon Faisal (who was a great guy, except for this "incident") was just trying to make a political statement.

No.  I think he was just trying to do his small part to terrorize The Great Satan by demonstrating that the godless Americans are not safe anywhere.

(Who wants to give me nine-to-five odds that Faisal hadn't been laid in ... EVER?  Maybe he was just horny and resentful.  Does that make him The Ultimate Nerd?)

Perhaps some folks haven't enough adult experiences to have reached the conclusion that some behavior is absolutely not acceptable.  It's that old question about "your religion and my religion are equally valid".

I call bullshit on that point of philosophical thought.

Whatever the reason for the attacks, how does the UC/MERCED decision to MOURN the passage of this psychopathic loser make sense?

The bible is full of aphorisms about "Love Thy Neighbor", especially Mathew 5:

38"You have heard that it was said, 'AN EYE FOR AN EYE, AND A TOOTH FOR A TOOTH.' 39"But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.40"If anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, let him have your coat also.…
There are also biblical quotes about self defense: especially Luke 22:36
He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.

The Bible, like the Koran, contains many passages which can be interpreted according to the prejudices of the reader.

I read the Bible, and I have my own selection of verses which I choose to interpret according to my daily life.

Personally, I think it's not only "OKAY" to hate this murderous asshole, but an emotionally healthy reaction.

Investigation by our government has shown the today's terrorism and terrorists are the result of increased global warming and runaway climate change. Once we reverse the warming and climate change, terrorism will go away. This is no secret, high government officials and even presidential candidates have been warning us for well over a year.

I read over Proverbs 6:12-19 (RE: "The Wicked Man") whenever one of these @$$holes comes up, and especially the last half (verses 16-19):
16 These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17 A proud look,
A lying tongue,
Hands that shed innocent blood,
18 A heart that devises wicked plans,
Feet that are swift in running to evil,
19 A false witness who speaks lies,
And one who sows discord among brethren. (NKJV)

Yeah, if God Himself would hate his actions, I think it's appropriate we do, as well.
