Hillary Clinton's gun-control plan - Business Insider:
"It's time to act on gun violence. We simply cannot accept as normal 33,000 gun deaths a year,"
[hat tip: David Hardy]
Hill The Pill is going to fix all our problems, with one simple gesture.
Actually, it's SEVEN "gestures" ... all of them flawed one way or another:
#1: Universal FEDERAL Background Checks
- Without justification, will not stop "mass shootings".
- Individuals cannot perform background checks; only licensed dealers can. They charge anywhere from $30 to $60 to perform that service.
- Suggests that the serial number and the make/model etc. description of the gun be entered, which amounts to registration as there is currently NO laws restricting record-keeping of civilian background check information.
- Not enforceable, as there is no way that Law Enforcement Officers can know when a private sale is being transacted.
#2: Close "Various Loopholes"
- Redundant: generally speaking, refers to background checks on private transaction when a dealer is not involved. See above.
- Does NOT allow automatic default to permitting a 'pass' on a firearms purchase if the transaction is not vetted within three days? If implemented, there would be NO check on passive-aggressive reluctance to allow a transaction.
- If implemented, offices charged with performing background checks would have NO reason to perform background checks in a speedy and efficient manner; which could delay legal transactions for ... oh, I don't know ... forever?
- Would not stop Mass Shootings
- If "anybody" could check on "anybody", it would result in a huge backlog of reporting agents
- If "anybody" could check on "anybody", there are privacy issues
- Hey, I thought this was a Free Country
#3: Repeal a law protecting gun manufacturers from lawsuits
- Misleading and contrary to "best practices"; these lawsuits are those which are aimed at manufacturers for misuse of their product by retail purchasers of their product. No other product is as vulnerable to "nuisance lawsuits" as firearms
- The law is called "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" Read here. Summary PDF
- Would not stop Mass Shootings
- But it would make the manufacturers of a legal product vulnerable to nuisance law suits, and consequently would either (a) increase the purchase price of their product (manufacturer expenses are always passed on to their customers), and
- Increased cost of firearms would cause the market to sag, which would hurt the most economically strapped would-be buyers to reject the cost of a firearm because they cannot afford the price of protection. Which is probably not the image that Democrats want to see projected ... but they're all heartless bastards. They are those who can smile and smile, and still be a villain. And Hillary is the roll model when it comes to smiles and villainy.
#4: Expand Inspections of Gun Dealers
- This is so vague that nobody even knows what it means. But firearms transactions are already the most regulated product in the history of this company, and Gun Dealers are already subject to inspections
- Vague and "touchy-feely", but without substance
- Suggests that gun dealers are universally without honor, because they sell ... you know ... GUNS!
- Would not stop mass shootings
#5: Criminals purchasing guns on behalf of those barred from buying guns themselves
- Probably: CRIMINALIZE
- Already in place. This is suppose to be NEW news?
- Would not stop mass shootings
#6: Block convicted domestic abusers from buying and possessing guns
- VERY touchy subject. Isn't that already in the process of vetting firearms purchasers?
- Again, privacy factor.
- Also, most states already block firearms purchases by convicted felons
- Just window dressing; nothing new here, move on
- The bad guys are going to kill somebody, or rob somebody to get guns, or get 'em on the 'streets'.
- Would not stop mass shootings
#7: Improve laws blocking individuals suffering from mental illness from obtaining weapons
- Improve .. how?
- This is not a "policy issue". It's a procedural issue. Every state has different ways of reporting people who are suffering from "mental illness"
- Define "mental illness", please?
- As craziness is a disease rather than a character flaw (as your local politician, he'll tell you that's true), then can't crazy people be cured?
- If they can be cured, isn't there a point where they CAN be trusted with guns?
- No, I don't want nut-jobs running around with guns, either. But recent news reports indicate that military veterans who request help dealing with the complications of government forms are being reported by the Veterans's Administration folks, and they're being denied ownership of firearms because they can't figure out the damned forms
- I think that people who design federal forms should be denied permission to own firearms, FIRST. Later, we'll decide on 'other people' who fit into that category, on a case-by-case basis
- Doesn't that sound more reasonable to you, than the bullshit that Hillary is trying to cram down our collective throats?
- Yeah, I thought so.
- See #5
- Okay, you know the drill.
Personally, I think that Hillary is a greater threat to this country than a few nut-jobs in a shopping mall. They only want to kill everyone they see; Hillary wants to do a nut-job on every American who doesn't agree with her crazy elitist world-view.
You know, where we're all retards and only SHE has the vision to Keep America Free Obedient.
PS: For a shorter version of this, go read PawPay, whose fisks are MUCH more economical!@=

Hillary has been extremely anti-gun almost from the cradle.
