As has been the case in previous years, two Texas high schools recently exchanged gifts as a goodwill gesture following a football game. Atascocita High School band members presented Summer Creek High School with a bucket containing fruit and candy.Atascocita H.S. students were subsequently suspended because the fruit basket "... included a coconut, a pineapple and a small watermelon."
The article didn't mention whether the opposing school objected to the gift. We're pretty sure they would have mentioned it.
Though it is unclear which of the contents Atascocita administrators found offensive, they were pretty direct in accusing the kids of racism.I don't know about this one. Perhaps it was a left-handed racial insult to the opposing school, maybe it was not. Apparently, the Atascocita (I can't even say that word! Is that a subtle slam against Hispanic people?) school administrators thought that the gift was something other than what it purported to be.
Honi soit qui mal y pense
Accusing someone of a "Thought Crime" is so ... so 1984!

To obtain a degree and certificate to teach most anywhere today, requires submitting to a frontal lobotomy.
Micro aggression is very hurtful and offensive to minorities. It appears that sensitivity training and even some reeducation is in order for the offending school administration for allowing this thoughtless incident to occur.
