Voter Qualification in The Land of Fruits and Nuts ... and yes, even People from Outer Space!

You don't need to be an Earthling to vote in San Francisco.

San Francisco - sanctuary for everyone but legal residents?

Folks in the San Francisco Bay Area are complaining about "youth" attacks on defenseless citizens.

Man beaten by 5-6 youths outside Richmond BART Station - SFGate:
A man was beaten and kicked in the head Thursday by a group of a half-dozen youths just outside the Richmond BART Station, police said. The man, who was not identified, was expected to survive, said Lt. Felix Tan, a spokesman for the Richmond Police Department. BART police initially responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. — at the transit terminal frequented by buses directly outside the station — because they thought the incident was under their jurisdiction. Five to six juveniles assaulted the man, according to BART police. Officers said they could not locate the attackers, who escaped in the surrounding neighborhood.
(emphasis added)

Curiously, either the newspaper or spokesmen for the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) authority, or the Richmond Police department refuse to identify the "demographics" of the "youths".   The claim is that revelation of their race might lead to racial violence, or something.

As if they don't already have that, in the Bay Area.    Remember Katherine Steinle?

Whether the attackers were blacks, or Mexican "immigrants", or a group of fun-loving Nob Hill teenagers on a lark from across the bay is left for the reader to imagine, based on one's own personal racial bias.   The only thing that seems certain is that if the attacking "youths" were caucasian, it would have been printed in the paper ... if only to prove that the attackers were not minorities, or were not illegal aliens  undocumented immigrants.

Personal Note: I lived and worked in the East Bay area (Oakland) for several years, back in the '80s, where I got my first job in the Data Processing business.   My wife and I decided to move elsewhere after the lady who lived in the next-door apartment was mugged by three  black adolescent girls in the parking lot of the grocery store in the next block.  They beat the shit out of her, stole her purse and scattered the groceries all over sidewalk, so I guess they weren't trying to feed their families.

That attack, too, happened during the middle of the day.

Do I Feel Lucky?

San Francisco cop arrested for possessing AR:

An officer with the city of San Francisco was arrested on gun charges Tuesday after the department’s internal affairs division ended a yearlong investigation. Thomas Abrahamsen, 50, a Berkeley resident, was charged with one felony count of manufacturing of an assault weapon and one felony count of possession of an assault weapon. Authorities say internal affairs began its investigation in the summer of 2015 after learning Abrahamsen was in “possession of a prohibited AR-15 style assault rifle and AR-15 receiver components.”
You got to ask yourself; Do I Feel Lucky?

It is no longer enough to expect that the Second Amendment ("... shall not be infringed ...") is sufficient to protect a citizen from prosecution by overly zealous local politicians; now even laws which are not constitutional are being used to prosecute those whose career is based on enforcing the law.

What was that old song?  "I fought The Law, and The Law Won!"

"SHOULD HAVES"

It's too easy to descend to the "Should Have" arguments:
... if the officer wanted to own an AR15 (he should have known it was illegals), he should have moved to Oregon where it's still legal to won an AR15.   So far.
We should have all seen this coming.   New York, California, Chicago, etc. ... all have draconian (and extra-constitutional) anti-gun laws, and The Supreme Court has not weighed in on many of them.   Certainly this Law Enforcement Officer knew what the local laws were, and he deliberately decided to ignore them.  At best, he made a decision to challenge the local (state) laws, and offer himself as a test case against their constitutionality.

It's difficult to believe that he expected to "get away with it".

I hope that was the purpose; I hope he fights like hell for his Constitutional Rights, and wins.
Sounds expensive; I don't expect him to get away without jail-time.

He will certainly be fired from his job.

I have no recommendations.  I don't think he's going to be employable in the state of Californai, and if he's convicted, he'll never be employable as a 'serving officer' in this country.

Officer Abrahamsen knew what he was doing ("Test Case", or else he's an idiot, which I doubt) so we can count on a very interesting court case.  Which he will lose.

Or he will ... eventually .. win in appeals to a higher court (which I doubt) and we will hail him as a hero of the Second Amendment.

Two Words:   Fat Chance.

Comparative Acceptance in Baghdad By The Bay

Have I got this right?

In the place where they won't jail a wetback for using a stolen pistol to murder a woman, but they won't allow anyone to sell firearms or ammunition, and they won't turn anyone in for being in the country illegally ... a mob of sunbathers (not that they get sun more than 10 times a year) now beats a man half to death because he's ogling someone's GIRLFRIEND?

Man’s roaming eyes spark mob beat down in SF’s Dolores Park - SFGate:
A mob beat up a man in San Francisco’s Dolores Park for looking at the girlfriend of one of his attackers, police said Thursday. ...The mob then repeatedly kicked him while he was on the ground, police said.
Can you say "Cognative Disonance", Children?

(I knew you couldn't.)

Freakin' SF Mayor still wants to regulate ammunition sales

Gavin Newsom draws crowd to gun-control speech near Rohnert Park | The Press Democrat:

Gavin Newsom is nonplussed that he couldn't buy Sudefed without Identification,
“But interestingly, you can buy ammunition anywhere,” the former San Francisco mayor told gun control supporters Friday night.
Apparently, Newsom is conflating dangerous and habit-forming drugs with ammunition.

Can he do that?  (Oh, shut my mouth .. he's the mayor of SF; he can do anything!)

But still ... what's the difference?

Dangerous Drugs are habit forming, and while they have the palliative effect of alleviating pain and medical symptoms, they are subject to abuse.

Ammunition is not habit forming, but while they (cartridges) do have the palliative effect of defending one's person, property, home and family, they are subject to abuse.

The difference is that Ammunition is 'protected' under the Second Amendment.

No, that's not JUST my opinion.  The Supreme Court says so.
Washington D.C. Ammunition Ban Violates Second Amendment-
The District of Columbia Court of Appeals has declared D.C.’s ammunition possession ban unconstitutional in the case of Herrington v. District of Columbia. -
The court therefore reasoned that although neither Heller nor the subsequent Supreme Court case McDonald v. Chicago specifically addressed ammunition, “it logically follows that the right to keep and bear arms extends to the possession of handgun ammunition in the home; for if such possession could be banned (and not simply regulated), that would make it “impossible for citizens to use [their handguns] for the core lawful purpose of self-defense.”

Did I mention that this article about the Supreme Court Decision was published November 8, 2010?
(Which suggests that Newsom should have been aware that the question about the right to keep and bear firearms, and the right to buy ammunition, are equally protected by Federal Law.)

But Newsom finds it anomalous that Ammunition Sales don't require identification.

Never mind; if San Francisco hasn't YET made it illegal to buy ammunition, it soon will.

Let's call it the "San Francisco Loophole".

In the meantime, it's still legal for San Francisco to require "identification" to purchase ammunition .. along with firearms themselves.

Because they are not 'Prohibiting' the purchase of ammunition, but they may still 'regulate' it.

This is just one more reason why Americans should avoid residing in the State of California, generally, and the City of San Francisco, specifically.

Tony Bennett, eat your heart out.

(Oh .. Tony Bennett is against the second amendment; never mind)

No Surprises in Troll-Haven

S.F.’s last gun shop to lay down its arms - SFGate:
(September 25, 2015)
The owner of High Bridge Arms, Japan-born Masashi Takahashi, is shutting down the 63-year-old store, employees said Friday, as city leaders consider yet again whether to toughen restrictions on gun sales.
San Francisco .. "Baghdad By The Bay" .. has driven its last bastion of freedom to its knees, and bowed its head, and driven it out of business.

I do so hope those horrible hoplophobes are happy with destroying a family business which never broke a law in its 63 years of existence.  (Name me one Head-Shop in the Fillmore District which can make the same claim?)

That's the thing about the Liberal Establishment:  they like what they like, and what they don't like .. they hound to death.

Smoke pot?  They like it.
Illegal Immigrant?  They like it. (even if their favorite boys kill folks, they're committed!)

Suspect who was deported multiple times pleads not guilty in fatal shooting of San Francisco woman

Sell a legal product .. a GUN?  Oh, they don't like that at ALL!  (Of course, their favorite illegal immigrant who STOLE a gun gets a free pass because .. FRISCO.)
