Dog vs Cop ... Dog Loses. (Nothing Good Can Come Of This)

(5) Cop kills dog: Police body cam shows officer shoot man’s pit bull after false alarm - TomoNews - YouTube: Published on Jun 12, 2017 PAHRUMP, NEVADA —

Two months ago, a man in Nevada opened his front door to find his 6-year-old pit bull twitching in a bloody heap. The dog had been shot by a cop who immediately claimed the dog was charging at him.

On April 10, Gary Miller was at his home when he accidentally triggered his house alarm by sitting on his keys. The home security company called him to confirm a breach, and he responded saying there was no problem. Deputy John Tolle, who was responding to the call, claims he did not get that message, and showed up at Miller’s residence. In the backyard, Gary Miller’s pit bull, Blu, heard Deputy Tolle entering through the front gate, and sprinted out to investigate. When Deputy Tolle heard the dog barking and saw the dog running toward him, he immediately grabbed his gun. What happened next was captured on the officer’s body camera. The footage was released to the public on June 10.
I'm not a "Dog Person", but I admit that when I'm confronted by a dog, I tend to shout and growl back at it.  That usually gives the dog a moment to re-evaluate the situation.
(Maybe he isn't the biggest dog in the pack!)

I understand that police tend to categorize "aggressive behavior" as a Threat.   I get that.

Still, I can't help but wonder if this Law Enforcement Office might have over reacted.

As for the "false alarm" (see the video) ... there's enough blame to spread around.  The homeowner felt he was threatened, called for the cops, and later called back to identify his initial call as a false alarm.

The deputy didn't get that information, and he was keyed up for "whatever happens:"; meaning that he wasn't privy to the details of the call.

Not making excuses, but for all he knew, the dog may have been the problem.

Rep. Chaffetz Subpoenas ATF Agents Involved in Obama's Fast and Furious Op

Rep. Chaffetz Subpoenas ATF Agents Involved in Obama's Fast and Furious Op:

Chaffetz wants to hear directly from ATF Agent William Temple, special agent in charge of the Dallas Field Division, and Associate Director Ronald Turk. The hearing marks the first effort by Congress to re-open the investigation into President Obama’s Fast and Furious gun trafficking scheme since he left office in January. ICE Agent Zapata was killed by one of the guns involved in this program, and Special Agent Victor Avila was injured during the attack in Mexico.
Chaffetz also noted that ATF agents who were subpoenaed to testify did not appear:

"When Congress invites you to testify, it's not an option!"

The 'good thing' about driving a Skoda is ... you get to go out in style

Terrified driver decapitated in 119mph horror crash moments after telling police car was 'stuck in cruise control' - Mirror Online:

The modern car's engine screaming at high revs as Mr Gandhi frantically pushed the engine ignition button during the ride of terror in the minutes before his death, the inquest heard. The coroner heard the car was finally brought to a sickening halt when it slewed off the motorway and into the lay-by where the flat-bed lorry was parked. Emergency services who arrived at the scene soon after the crash found Mr Gandhi's headless body in the wreckage. Almost the whole car was embedded under the lorry, with only its back wheels emerging and its roof torn off. The white Skoda hit the huge three-axle HGV with such force that its rear axle was pushed to the front of the trailer.
... but up until then, he looked really good!

(Am I the only one who is unconvinced that the driver couldn't have stalled the car by shifting into neutral, stepping on the brake, or shutting off the ignition?)

Blue Light Special

9 injured after balloons cause Orlando mall shooting scare:

I see where 9 people were injured in the panic resulting from some balloons popping in an Orlando shopping mall, but I don't see any reports of firearms being drawn in defense by CHL carriers.

Wasn't Florida one of the first states in America to legalize Concealed Carry?

Instead, shoppers were so amazed that their expected "Blue Light Special" didn't announce special one-time discounts on merchandise, they trampled each other in panic.

Floridians ... this is NOT going to look good on your resume!

Seven Shooters You Know

Seven Shooters You Know

This is a great video, depicting stereotypical GunGame shooters with issues.   Thanks to ENDO for presenting a humorous video with a serious message.
(Go to the link, above, to view the video; I don't steal videos from primary sources.)

I've run into most of the characters depicted, over the past years.   Mister Clueless is the most common version, but in all candor I have to admit that I expect many of my class participants to be unaware of a lot of  the range rules of competition shooting.

That's why they sign up for the course of instruction, and they are all intrinsically motivated.  They WANT to learn, because pistol competition is a quagmire of rules, regulations, and a long history of Range Etiquette.

The one character in the video that I cannot forgive is the one who won't share the work.  I think we're suppose to hiss when he shows up.

Since it's a "Class-room environment" (actually on the range, but you know ..) there's no excuse for not doing your part.  One of the primary lessons in the class, second only to safe gunhandling, is that IPSC/USPSA is a Volunteer Sport.

Everybody works.
Everybody is "special".

Well, everybody is packing.
An armed society is a polite society.

"Not on MY Watch!" She Said

They don't seem to be very progressive in the DC Giant Grocery Store.   I wonder how many of them were Democrats.

Woman Removed Man From Bathroom, Arrested | The Daily Caller:
(May 19, 2016)
A female security guard working at a Washington, D.C. grocery store was arrested Monday afternoon for physically escorting a man out of the women’s restroom after he refused to leave because he identifies as a woman. The shopper — a young, African-American male who identified himself as Ebony Belcher to local news outlets — reportedly passed the security guard on his way into the women’s restroom at a Giant grocery store in Northeast D.C. After seeing Belcher walk into the women’s restroom, the security guard followed him in and ordered the man to leave. When he refused, the security guard had to physically escort him out of the women’s restroom.
The evicted 'person' ("Ebony Belcher"?) called police, who arrested the guard.

Belcher said he was "hurt":

... “the woman had no reason to put her hands on me,” adding that he was emotionally traumatized by the incident. “I’m hurt by this. It’s terrible… I’m distraught,”

The genetic ladies in the ladies room were grateful to the guard.
“If you was born a man go to the men’s bathroom. You got a penis go to the men’s bathroom. If you are born a woman go to the woman’s bathroom. Period!”

ATF accepts responsibility: Well, THAT's a first!

Fast & Furious guns tracked to police killings, 'El Chapo' hideout, ATF confirms | Fox News Latino:
“[The ATF] and the [Justice] Department deeply regret that firearms associated with Operation Fast and Furious have been used by criminals in the commission of violent crimes, particularly crimes resulting the death of civilians and law enforcement officers," assistant attorney general Peter Kadzik said in a Tuesday letter to Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Charles Grassley of Iowa and House Oversight and Government Reform chairman Jason Chaffetz of Utah, according to USA Today. The letter continued: “ATF accepts full responsibility for the flawed execution of Fast and Furious, and will continue to support Mexican law enforcement in efforts to recover and identify associated firearms."
Perhaps there's hope for truth, justice and the American way ... after all.

Maybe.
If other governmental departments follow the new meme.

Which we doubt.

Dear ATF: Bite Me

ATF: New Rule On Gun Sellers Will Be Handled On A 'Case By Case' Basis | The Daily Caller:
January 20, 2016
LAS VEGAS — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) insists the agency will enforce President Barack Obama’s new executive actions “on a case by case basis.” Obama issued several executive actions pertaining to firearms earlier in the month. The ATF will start enforcing a rule any person selling firearms from a store, a gun shows, or online must have a Federal Firearms License (FFL) and conduct background checks. The administration stressed that there is no “specific threshold number of firearms purchased or sold that triggers the licensure requirement.” An ATF representative told The Daily Caller at the SHOT Show Tuesday, “It depends on how much you’re doing it and there’s no line. There’s no bright line number.”
(emphasis added)

Dear ATF:
I'm sorry, you have to do better than that.
I know I'm fairly ignorant about the law, but I do know the meaning of "Ex Post Pacto".

That means that if it's not against the law when I perform an action, I can't be held accountable for "illegal" actions which were not illegal before I do the action.

So if I go sell three guns at a gun show, as a private citizen, I haven't broken a law.
If I sell a dozen guns, I still haven't broken a law.
Because I'm not operating a business ... I'm just liquidating my private assets.

So if YOU ... BATF Agent that you are ... arbitrarily decide that I'm "operating a business" because I sold more than x-number of firearms during an hour, a day, a weekend ... you can't prosecute me for it until you determine what the "Bright Line Number" is.

Idiots.

This is a brand new concept that your bosses ...you know, the guys on the 7th floor? ... just dreamed up and now you have to work with it. Right?

SUCKS to be you.  If you could get A Real Job, you wouldn't have to be trying to figure out what your GOVERNMENTAL job is.

You know, there are rules, and there are laws.  One of the common characteristics of both RULES and LAWS is that there has to be some measure of default.

Fast and Furious .. The final chapter? Probably not!

Judge rules against Justice Dept. in Fast and Furious fight | Fox News:

A federal judge has rejected the Justice Department's claim of executive privilege used to withhold documents tied to the Fast and Furious "gun-walking" scandal from release to a congressional committee.

Just thought you would like to know.

That is all.
