BREAKING. Caravan of Central American Illegals Turned Back By Mexico: A caravan of migrants near Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala on Friday has turned back from its planned sojourn to the U.S. in the face of a heavy presence of Mexican and Guatemalan law enforcement officers, according to media reports. The Associated Press reported that thousands of migrants stopped about two blocks from the Guatemala-Mexican border crossing before turning around, saying they would wait another hour or so. The border post, reports the AP, is guarded by a heavy security force and tall metal gates. Dozens of Mexican federal police officers are on the border bridge, with hundreds more behind them. In Guatemala, government authorities closed its border gate and are standing guard with dozens of troops and two armored jeeps. Mexico’s ambassador to Guatemala says his country has decided to enforce a policy of “metered entry” since thousands of migrants are clamoring to cross, says the AP.

Yes, I'm aware that this action has been taken because (our President) Trump has threatened to withdraw all "aide" (money we've been paying them off with) from both Mexico and Guatemala if the mob reaches America's border with Mexico.

Yes, I can use the "mob" word here.

Yes, I can also use the word Schadenfreude here.

The HillaryBeast would have welcomed the mob with open arms.   I'm finally glad to acknowledge Donald Trump as the most presidential President we've seen for a long time.

We needed a leader who could make the hard decisions.

Portland has become the Canker Sore of Oregon

I use to live in Portland (the largest city in the state), back about 40 years ago.

I sold my house for "$2000, and you take over the payments" on my GI Bill loan. 

Ten years earlier, $30,000 for a cottage on the East Side of Portland was (in the words of our real estate agent when my wife and I bought it) a "steal".

But I got divorced, and gave my ex-wife the proceeds from selling the house.   At the time, I regretted having give up a 2-story house with a front and (fenced) back yard, detached garage, and a basement with an extra bedroom.

Now ... I realize that I could not have foreseen what a Liberal Hell-hole Portland would become.   And I'm glad I got out while "the getting was good".

What happened to Portland is what's happening to America.  Our elected officials are allowing violence by people who call themselves "anti-fascists", but who are in fact becoming the most violent fascists in America.

What happened in Portland is fanatics who wear masks and hoodies and assault total strangers on the mean streets of our most "Progressive" city.   

It's difficult to understand what these Rebels Without A Cause want, but they are more than willing to engage in anonymous violence to achieve their bizarre purpose.

It's just a guess, but I think what they want is anarchy.   So I'll call them Anarchists; people who have no clearly defined goal but mob rule .... and they do it because they can.

The state of Oregon, the city of Portland, have made no effort to curb these Anarchists even while they commit crimes of assault against innocent passers-by.

I remember, back in the day, driving 'home' to Portland and being greeted by a huge neon sign of a prancing White Stag (the emblem of a well-known outdoor clothing company)

That sign was ... well, it felt like coming home to me.   It was a comfortable welcome to the Portland of my era, and I loved it.

I don't know if that sign is still up; I have passed through Portland a few times on my way up the I5 Interstate highway, but I no longer look for the White Stag sign.  In fact, I try not to look at anything but the road; it's all too gruesome and disgusting to drive through this "Major City".

Portland, Oregon: The canary in a coal mine for the violent Left:

The last time I passed through Portland, Oregon, I was treated to the sight of a bum squatting with his trousers around his ankles, dumping a huge load of poop on the pedestrian walkway of the Morrison Street bridge. 

This was not the Portland of my memories. It was a Third World hell-hole, which I had become accustomed to in Viet Nam ... but not in My America!

This was a consequence of the progressive permissiveness which seems, to me, endemic to extend "Liberality" to the point where laws are not enforced,  anarchy is tacitly permitted, and basic rules of respectable human behavior are ignored.

Forget the riots, forget the protests, and forget the concept of human dignity.

If anyone wonders why I am a convicted Conservative, it's because I think that in an America which is becoming increasingly populated by people who have no concept of "Correct Behavior" ...

I don't want to be known as a part of that America.

This is not the America which drafted me, which sent me to war, or which expected me to act like a responsible human being in a country that I didn't care whether it went communist or was free.

Because I was, and I remain, an American.   I have my standards ... and I insist that those standards are respected and accepted by every American.

Don't shit on the bridge.
Don't shit on the Constitution.

I like the concept of a website which promotes firearms as a means of self-defense.

I worry that some seem to be more concerned with promotion of their website, than they are for defense of our civil rights.

Sometimes it's a little confusing; but perhaps I've missed a few issues.

Arizona Guv - "Lock 'em Up!

Arizona Governor recommends arrest and incarceration of gun owners, without charging them with a crime.

It's more complicated than the above abridged text suggests, but the core of his intent seems to be to LOCK 'EM UP on suspicion,  for 3 weeks, even though no crime has been committed and the detainee has not been charged with a crime.

No word on whether this period of incarceration would appear on the suspect's criminal record.

The article also fails to make clear what degree of consanguinity must be established before the "offended" may be arrested and his/her firearms confiscated.

Damn newspapers never get it right; it may be a tempest in a teapot, or it may be as inane as it seems on the surface.

 Everytown For Gun Safety, an anti-gun activist group known for posting all kinds of false stats about gun violence in an effort to strip law-abiding citizens of their Second Amendment rights, tweeted a Newsweek article alleging that arming teachers would somehow make minority children in urban schools "less safe." Perhaps even more ridiculous than the premise of the article was the photo along with it: a gun, with a magazine that's loaded...backwards.

This is just one more reason why we are justified in ignoring their pallid political posturing.

If they have a political agenda, they should at least demonstrate some expertise in the subject they're so adamantly against!

I love it when the opposition steps on their own tiny dick.

Ban Assault Weapons!

A new poll shows that 70% of Americans — and more than half of Republicans — support stricter laws on assault weapons in the wake of a deadly shooting in Florida.

According to the poll from Business Insider's partner MSN, 87% of Democrats and 52% of Republicans support stricter laws on assault weapons.

I don't know what most Americans consider an "Assault Weapon", and I suspect the most Americans don't know what it is, either; but a recent poll suggests that 90% of Americans are "against them"!

(MY best guess: it's a semi-automatic long-arm which fires one shot with one pull of the trigger, without the need to deliberately cycle a bolt or other mechanism to load the next round into the chamber.   But that's just a guess!   MSM isn't telling us what they consider an "Assault Weapon!")

I don't know why so many people are against a semi-automatic rifle,

I own a .22 caliber rifle which by the most vague of definitions, might be considered an "Assault Weapon"; but it constitutes no great threat to Joe America,

Main-Stream America seems to have rallied against the term, even if they don't seen to know what the heck it is.

Which doesn't speak well for Joe America, or the Mainstream Media ... all of whom seem determined to rally around the public outcry against a squirrel gun!

 A new poll shows that 70% of Americans — and more than half of Republicans — support stricter laws on assault weapons in the wake of a deadly shooting in Florida. According to the poll from Business Insider's partner MSN, 87% of Democrats and 52% of Republicans support stricter laws on assault weapons. The nationwide average of 70% is even higher than the 67% that want to ban assault weapons and the 66% that wanted tougher gun laws in general in a recent Quinnipiac University poll. Those figures are the highest ever in the 10-year history of the poll.

TEMPEST IN A TEA POT!

"The highest ever" outrage against "Assault Weapons", and they can't even define them? That doesn't speak well for either "Mainstream Media" or the "American Public".

Americans sometimes seem to pay more attention the the media than to our own native intelligence.

It doesn't speak well  of us when we allow ourselves to let strangers dictate our political and moral interpretation of the daily opinions we read in the newspapers.

Ask yourself; when was the last time you were threatened by someone who wasn't trying to hold up a liquor store or a late-night market?

And when was the last time you were threatened by a legal concealed-carrier who just wants to be left alone? 

(HINT:  You probably never knew that the guy next to you in the check-out line was carrying a concealed weapon .... because it never is shown except in defense.)

But if you really needed somebody on your side, and that anonymous stranger defended you and everyone else in the store ... I bet you were glad he was there.

A good guy with a gun doesn't always stop a bad guy with a gun

CNN is wetting its collegial panties with joy at the demonstrated evidence that the NRA is wrong, and it does so by implying that a good guy with a gun must stop a bad guy with a gun.

Here's definitive proof that a good guy with a gun doesn't always stop a bad guy with a gun - CNNPolitics: There are no simple solutions. There are no foolproof answers. Mass shootings are not entirely preventable.

Law Enforcement Officers are not legally required to protect private citizens; why then does CNN imply that armed private citizens should be held to a higher standard?

As usual, CNN is oversimplifying the situation, and then castigates the NRA by accusing that organization of oversimplifying the solution:

"To stop a bad guy with a gun, it takes a good guy with a gun," LaPierre said to applause from the CPAC crowd on Thursday morning.

The CNN article makes assumptions which are not warranted (as is often the case when Leftists attempt to misinterpret pro-gun positions).    The National Rifle Association never claimed that the mere presence of "a good guy with a gun" would automatically counter the predatory actions of "a bad guy with a gun".

That claim would be just ... stupid; much like these insinuations of CNN.

The Constitution enumerates Rights ... not Obligations.

The fact that an armed citizen was nearby during another {sigh} shooting, but declined to risk his life in protection of others, speaks only the constitutional choices available to each individual.  The CNN article suggests that an armed private citizen has an obligation to defend others which the state does not even assign to Sworn Officers.

The Second Amendment recognizes our personal right to carry a firearms; it assumes that we have the right to protect our persons, our property, and other persons. 

It does not present a mandate for the individual to protect others, at the risk of our own life.

 Few of us know, for sure, how we would react when faced with armed personal combat. 

This CNN article is just another feeble attempt by an anti-gun website to undermine the 2nd Amendment by implying that armed citizens are guilty of moral terpitude if they are unwilling to risk their own life by protecting others.

One wonders what the author of the CNN article would do, if presented with the challenge of protecting self or others against an armed aggressor.   But that is a problem for his laundry service.

Ignorance v. Apathy

There's an old joke:  "What's the difference between Ignorance and Apathy?"
The classic response is: "I don't know, and I don't care!"

While the motto of the NY Times is "All the news that's fit to print", the motto of MSNBC should be  "I don't know, and I don't care!"

MSNBC: Handguns Are Too Slow To Stop A School | The Daily Caller:

MSNBC anchors are claiming that teachers armed with handguns would be unable to stop a school shooter because rifles shoot “three times faster.” Anchor Lawrence O’Donnell said on his show Thursday night that “a bullet fired from an AR-15 travels 3x faster than one from a handgun…and yet the president and the NRA think giving teachers guns will stop a school shooter.”

It requires a special level of devotion to become a teacher.

But it takes a total lack of integrity for MSNBC to make such an inane statement which not only undermines the devotion of teachers, but links it to an anti-gun propaganda position which is based on misdirection, rather than veracity

The question of whether teachers should be armed is a quandry, and those educators who choose to undergo the special training, and face the controversy over whether they should be armed to protect their students, is a very personal one.  It requires ... well, a lot of support from school boards, and an acknowledgement that school shootings  have only one viable solution:

Should teachers be armed in the classroom?

I don't have an answer.  But it's apparently very easy to denounce the concept; especially if you're a writer who hasn't had to make such a difficult and very personal decision.

Ultimately, this article is not as much a criticism of that decision as it is a hit-piece against the National Rifle Association ... which has stepped up to offer training of educators who have shown that they are more concerned for the safety of their students than for their own safety.

But those who disagree with this difficult decision owe more than lies if they choose to debate the subject.   It's significant that they opposition is based on mis-direction, rather than solid logic.

I think I would rather ... anything else

Amy Schumer Asks for Donations to Gun Control Group In Lieu of Wedding Gifts: \

After announcing that she had wed chef Chris Fischer in a surprise ceremony this week, comedian Amy Schumer asked fans to forgo wedding gifts and to instead send donations to the Michael Bloomberg-funded gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety.

I think I would rather cut out my tongue than do anything this woman suggests.

Her choice of "wedding gifts" only serves to polarize my disdain.
