Sex, lies, and Videotape .. and guns.

John Stossel's Illegal Everything - YouTube:

You may think that John Stossel espouses views that are anathema to your own politics.  I think that's A good Thing, and we need to consider his views on Raw Milk, Property Ownership, and Prostitution in the same vein as the Second Amendment.

This Stossel special will blow your mind! The government, especially the EPA is out of control as well as local prosecutors trying to make a name for themselves.
America, and the Jeffersonian Interpretation.
I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical. Unsuccesful rebellions indeed generally establish the incroachments on the rights of the people which have produced them. An observation of this truth should render honest republican governors so mild in their punishment of rebellions, as not to discourage them too much. It is a medecine [sic] necessary for the sound health of government.”
Commentary:

The "Jeffersonian Interpretation" was based on "the Agrarian Farmer".  He believed that laws which acted against the welfare of the common man were intrinsically wrong.  If Congress, for example, thought that some action was deterious to the common good, then it should be specified in law.

In the simplest terms:  "If it is not specifically forbidden, then it is allowed".

What happens when something is specifically forbidden?

During his Presidency, Jefferson's attempts (including the Electoral System) often put him in a position of counter-advocacy of many who were Federalists ... essentially, those who advocated the continuation of an Aristocracy.

Jefferson thought this was .. wrong.

But what about today, when Congress is seriously considering infringements on the Bill of Rights?

Would Thomas Jefferson stand up for the 2nd Amendment as adamantly as he did for the First Amendment?

We would prefer to think that he would.

But .. would he

We should talk about this.
