US aircraft carrier & bomber ‘under attack’ in doctored N. Korea footage (VIDEO)

US aircraft carrier & bomber ‘under attack’ in doctored N. Korea footage (VIDEO) — RT News:

North Korea’s state media has released a doctored video worthy of a Hollywood blockbuster, in which a North Korean missile "destroys" US B-1B and F-35 jets, while a submarine targets America’s state-of-the-art carrier USS Carl Vinson. The video, released by DPRK Today, also features US President Donald Trump, seen speaking at the celebration of the US Air Force’s 70th Anniversary at Joint Base Andrews, portrayed as “a mad man,” South Korean news agency Yonhap reported. Also in the footage, a North Korean submarine-launched missile strikes the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, with the caption reportedly saying: “Should F-35, B-1B and the Carl Vinson lead the US attack, they will head to the grave in that order.”

Saint, Showman or Charlatan?

Representative Trey Gowdy (R/SC) is a politician, and I instinctively distrust politicians of every stripe.

But I've been watching a lot of videos lately featuring the Honorable Gentleman from South Carolina, and Mr. Gowdy is one hell of an orator!

This is a representative melange of his in-house speeches.

I like a lot of the things he has to say.

(If you haven't the patience for a one-hour video, search youtube or google.)

Why Gun Control Can’t Be Solved in the USA

Why Gun Control Can’t Be Solved in the USA | Scott Adams' Blog:
On average, Democrats (that’s my team*) use guns for shooting the innocent. We call that crime. On average, Republicans use guns for sporting purposes and self-defense. If you don’t believe me, you can check the statistics on the Internet that don’t exist. At least I couldn’t find any that looked credible.
Scott Adams continues his Delbert Persona into the scary cobwebs-and-squeaky-doors House of  Gun Control.

I'm glad he chimed in on this contentious issue, because it's a magnificent commentator who can skewer both sides, and leave everyone laughing at themselves (in a contentious manner, of course, because we're all a little weird from bickering all these years on an issue we'll never agree on).

But ... that's just one viewpoint.

Let's look at another blog, saying "you can't regulate guns, until you know how to use one".

Yishan Wong writes that he doesn't believe in the Second Amendment,   Specifically:
I am a pro-gun-control liberal who does not believe in the Second Amendment.

Well, that's a tough act to follow.   It's kind of like the Queen of Hearts:
"I can't believe that!" said Alice.
"Can't you?" the Queen said in a pitying tone. "Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes."
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."

While offering to coach people who don't understand guns, as a public service, Wong continues:
I also possess five guns: three handguns and two rifles — one which I built myself from parts. It was fairly easy and a lot of fun, as I am an engineer by training.
I also believe that guns at home are more likely to result in injury than be used successfully for home defense, so I believe in storing them at the local gun club or armory.

There are still things I haven't learned.  Perhaps this is one of them.

The State Of Firearms Training (STOLEN FROM ENDO)

The State Of Firearms Training:

I saw this fascinating article/interview with Firearms Trainer Dave Spaulding, and I thought it was about the most down-to-earth discussion about training I've ever seen.

No BS, no ego, and (spoiler alert) no training tips.  Just one man with experience telling his unscripted and unsolicited (?) opinion on the state of his 'industry' today.

The industry?  Taking people with varying degrees of firearm experience and training them to be safe, accurate, and effective.

Favorite quote;
"People ask me, 'what kind of shoes do you wear?'   WHO CARES!   The kind that fit my feet!"

Go watch it.  I won't give the link to the video because ENDO deserves the blog-hits.

-------------

Oh I almost forgot!

I get the most interesting stuff from places like gunbloggers.com and The Gun Feed, and there's always The Firearms Blog, and .. well, you get the picture.  There are many 'mainstream' and more 'niche' gunbloggers that I regularly visit as well.  most of those websites will show up frequently on those sites, but some of them only post when they actually have something to say.

Want more? See an extensive list of gun blogs here.

What do YOU think is the worst that can happen at a school?

#1
Rifles on campus: College security forces nationwide add firepower

"The reality is that these are not always handgun situations," said FBI agent Katherine Schweit, the bureau's senior executive in charge of active-shooter matters. "We can't tell a university realistically what's acceptable in their community -- that's up to them -- but we recognize the struggle that every community faces because many of these shooters come to the scene with a long gun." Bill Taylor, president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, said he hasn't heard of any case in which a campus officer fired a rifle on the job. But police have broken out the weapons several times.

A Texas teacher was arrested after video surfaced appearing to show her hitting a student multiple times during a Friday morning high school math class.
Mary Hastings was charged with misdemeanor assault after the incident at Ozen High School, FOX4Beaumont reported. She was initially taken to the Jefferson County Jail, but was released after posting a $2,500 bond.
Hastings, described as a veteran teacher, has only been with the Beaumont Independent School District for three years. BISD is investigating the incident.

#3 Apr. 01, 2016 -
Chicago police are investigating whether a man shot multiple times on the city’s South Side was filming video that captured the attack.

People are concerned about people getting shot, and seem to be more concerned about seeing it than reading about it. Are you?

Sometimes, we have to back off from our understandable sense of outrage, and look for some perspective.   Not saying that none of these situations might not be cause for concern, but we need to understand that there are degrees of violence; potential, actual, and serious.

Not every degree of violence justifies the same level of reaction.
