Chicago's Emanuel wants city to house 1,000 more young illegal immigrants, report says | Fox News:

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a former Obama administration chief of staff, wants to expand the city’s efforts to house young illegal immigrants from Central America, reportedly proposing to shelter an additional 1,000 of them by year's end.

"The influx of unaccompanied child migrants is a growing humanitarian crisis that we can no longer ignore," said Emanuel, according to The Chicago Tribune. "While we have our own challenges at home, we cannot turn our backs on children that are fleeing dangerous conditions.”

Whoa!

Child Abuse?

This, in the Murder Capital of America, where the majority of the victims AND the perpetrators are "people of color" under the age of 25?

And Mayor Rahm wants to bring more young "people of color" into his battle-zone?  Talk about "Humanitarian Crisis"!

And he thinks this is "A good Thing".

Hmm ... let's look at a randomly selected news article to illustrate how safe it is to be a Chicago resident.

Top match: "Six Cities with the Worst Murder Rate in the United States"  (I know, the link is a duplicate.)   I swear, this is the top of the search list results.  I don't have to make this stuff up.

If you said Chicago made that list you would be …Wrong.As CBS Chicago correspondent Mason Johnson has reported in great detail, Chicago is not the “murder capital” of anything.

You think The Geek has his wires crossed, don't you?

Officially the FBI states the Chicago metro area murder rate is about 7 per 100,000 residents, but that includes much more than just the city itself.
Within the city limits, that rate climbs to around 18–about four times the national average rate of around 4.7 murders per 100,000 people

Uh huh.  And Mayor Rahm proposes to "succor" children from another culture by injecting them in THIS culture?

And he thinks this is "A good Thing".

Lambs to the slaughter.

Fortunately, Mayor Rahm can make this promise without fear that it will strain the budget of a city which already can't afford to pay the salaries of enough policemen to quench the wave of violence which has plagued Chicago since the beginning of his administration ... and beyond:

 The mayor’s office says the federal government will pay for the youths’ shelter, education, health care, food, safety and social services.
 However, officials are trying to get Chicago lawyers to provide free legal services for the youths, who arrived in hopes of staying with U.S. relatives but now face federal deportation hearings.

Swell.  It's a "Noble Gesture"  ("Beau Geste"?) but in the end it is full of "sound and fury, signifying nothing".  Rahm has, you might recall, "Friends in High Places".  He can make this promise in full confidence that his buddy, The President, will agree to take the tax dollars from Americans to pay for this boondoggle.

The article goes on to say:

 To be sure, Chicago has its own challenges, including a recent violent-crime wave in which at least 82 people were shot over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, with 16 victims dying.
 The Chicago area already has nine such facilities, which according to the National Immigrant Justice Center have roughly 500 beds for illegal-immigrant youths already in the United States.

Well ... hell yes!  And the facilities they're talking about have been established to house local youths who have been the target of gang attacks and who cannot safely walk the streets of Chicago.  The funding for these "hostels" (for want of a better name) is not clear at this time.

So, right out of the chute, there are children who are vulnerable.  They have no other options when the enter the United States (illegally), but here they are and WE have to do something about them.

And he thinks this is "A good Thing".



I would like to say that I support the humanitarian gesture offered by Mayor Rahm, but I cannot.

He's going to take 500 children out of the hundreds of thousands who cross our borders without permission each year, and then he's going to lock them into a facility where they have little or no opportunities to "assimilate" into the American culture.

 And he thinks this is A Good thing.

Let's call it what it is:   he's going to throw them in jail.  Sure, they'll have better food and accommodations than they had before.  But they will not be free.  They will not Have A Life.

It's all smoke and mirrors.  It looks good to the press, it sounds like a Humanitarian Gesture ... but that's all it is.

It's a gesture.

 There is no substance, no hope, and no plan to enter these children into a culture of freedom.     These kids are being used: callously, indifferently, as a Press Moment ...  and entirely without hope of acquiring any better life.  When the press furor dies down, they will be deported.  Cast aside .. and that's the best they can hope for, even though they don't know it yet.


And He thinks SAYS "This is a Good Thing".

Oh, by the way .. who ARE these people that Rahm wants to sequester and protect?  (Surely not all of them, but enough to make a difference):

MS-13 members are infiltrating a federal facility for Central American youths illegally entering the United States -- trying to cross the border with criminal pasts and recruiting others to join the notoriously violent, California-based gang, sources tell Fox News.
Shawn Moran, of the National Border Patrol Council, said the gang leaders are recruiting pre-teens, as they typically do, and following the lead of drug cartels also trying to fill their ranks from among the estimated 57,000 unaccompanied youths and others who have come to the U.S. from Central America in roughly the past nine months.
He said agents have witnessed the recruiting at the Border Patrol’s facility in Nogales, Ariz., and that gang members are using a Red Cross phone bank there to “recruit, enlist and pressure” others illegally crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.
